Tracks 5 & 6 of the Jupiter suite visit Jupiter's fourth and last major moon Io, a turbulent world caught between the gravitational pull of both Jupiter and Europa and sitting within the massive radiation fields emitted by Jupiter. Io is a world of extremes, cold, icy and yet massively volcanic and possible the closest environment to hell that we know. Volcanic plumes spew material thousands of kilometers out from the moon while its yellow mottled surface betrays its sulphur strewn ever evolving surface.

Track 6 catches Voyager as it spirals toward the giant planet making its fly by of Io to capture it in all of its hellish volcanic beauty before rounding Jupiter and using its gravity to slingshot the probe out of orbit and on toward Saturn.
